 Voices From Vietnam | Voices from Vietnam by Christchurch author Billy Barnz, was launched on Friday 30 May 2008 at Tribute '08 in Wellington by event patron Lieutenant General Don McIver. The book was well received by veterans and their families attending the event and its launch was viewed as an important part of the total weekend's commemoration. We have been receiving a steady flow of orders following the weekend's promotion. "Voices from Vietnam" has been published to enhance the public perception of Vietnam War veterans, and to add to New Zealanders' knowledge and understanding of New Zealand servicemen's participation. Since the book's publication and recent promotion, and in the wake of Tribute '08's success, Vietnam veterans seem to be receiving a more sympathetic hearing from the media and the public alike. It seems likely that the more positive portrayal of New Zealanders' efforts in the Vietnam War, as presented in this book, may be playing an important role in this more positive perception. |
